Review: Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila

Name of the hotel?
Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila

What is your Le Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Very much so. This was my 6th time at this hotel.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a luxury room and received one of the few luxury club rooms in the imperial resident.

How are the rooms?
Amazing! The room was a part of the posh imperial residence where, for example, Barack Obama has stayed. The imperial residence on the highest, 11th floor includes four luxury club rooms and one huge suite. All rooms in the imperial residence are connected to each other (this time all doors except to our room were of course locked) and they share a private corridor. The whole imperial residence including suite, luxury club rooms and corridor has similar sleek design. Our room was very dim and had at the same time special but cosy atmosphere.

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
- Upgrade to the imperial residence.
- Lounge.
- Buffet breakfast.
- Pool.

Bad:
- Had to remind the staff about welcome drink vouchers and platinum gift, i.e. VIP treatment and that even ended up being worse than a week before.

Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
Yes I did. The lounge is phenomenal. Read more here:

What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
- Two drink vouchers, both valid for two persons, usable for signature mocktail, wine, beer, juice, soft drinks, tea or coffee (somehow vouchers were better this time).
- Welcome card signed by GM and another card telling me that a bottle of wine can be found inside a fridge as a gift. There was nothing and required three contacts and more than an hour to be delivered.
- Welcome ”treat” included a few tasteless pastries, one mango and three apples.

Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Excellent value. For sure I’ll come back.
