I am travelling by myself, arriving the JR Kyoto Station in the afternoon and departing the following morning at 09:00 for a stay in Koyasan for one night. So, the Kyoto hotel is for a one night base only.

In the afternoon/evening, I plan to head out and explore Kyoto, and will not be dining at the hotel.

I figured a hotel close the station would be practical, both due to the morning departure but also as I might be able to leave my suitcase there (just bringing a backpack to Koyasan) and pick it up again on the return from Koyasan before heading on to either Osaka or Tokyo.

Having said that, I am open to any suggestions for alternatives as long as JR Kyoto train connection in the morning is not too complicated
