Yea I know it won't make a huge difference. As the annual FF status, what about simply adding a expiration date.
Logistically that's a nightmare for Chase - what happens when you achieve status for the next year on star alliance but the CC doesn't expire for another two years? Printing new cards is expensive for Chase....
