When you mentioned “station” you are referring to JR Kyoto station (yes, there are more than one train station at Kyoto) which is located at southern end of central area of city of Kyoto. Some say it is not the best location for tourist.

Both Dormy Inn and Century Hotel are more like Japanese “business hotels” than standard hotels in the U.S. You did not indicate where you are from so I have no idea about your reference point regarding typical hotels. I think both are pretty similar in terms of rooms.

I see only difference, if you use any reference point to decide, is that Century Hotel has more than one restaurant, where Dormy Inn has a restaurant with breakfast only (although their breakfast buffet is pretty good, in my opinion) but Dormy Inn has Japanese Onsen, public communal hot bath. I actually see these are pretty much difference between two hotels.

I think it all depends on how many people you are traveling with and how much luggage you will have. Both rooms at Dormy Inn and Century Hotel are 4.0 – 4.5 meters by 4.0 – 4.5 meters or 13-15 ft. by 13-15 ft.
