LOL, Can't believe this just happened.
My team finally launched our new mobile web app and got an instant inflow that crashed our server, we didnt even have time to scale our capacity(15%-98% instantly), it's like a tsunami that popped out from nowhere. And No it wasnt a DDOS attack, the inflow was from our wechat account followers. (We normally expected 400 readers within 15 minutes to enter the site from the story we put out, turns out there was 4000. XD
At Least people like that-that's a good thing, right?

This makes 12 hours work day for the past month worth it. Feels like the intro of The Social Network.

Stories like this are pretty common. I don't understand why companies don't use a public cloud where scaling is not an issue. Azure/AWS, etc. I'm assuming a few things but if your company had chosen to use something of that nature it would not have happened.
