The one data point I'm seeing is post #23 by OP. Was that the US, or Korea call center?
On the occasion of JFK-IST-ICN it was the US office who I unsuccessfully tried. Based on the EY ticket experience, I'd recommend Korea instead.
I suspect OZ will still direct you to fly via the Pacific rather than via the Atlantic.
