Are you flying in or will you be driving from Alice Springs?

I stayed at the hotels and was disgusted by these tourist traps. They are just out to fleece you.

Therefore the third time we just rented tents and slept at the facility there. For a 52 years old having last been in a tent for at least 30 years it was quite an experience but it was fun. It was part of the Australian Adventure. We did not sleep much (Ayers Rock has to be seen at sun-up) but saved a lot of money and enjoyed a good night a the hotel in Alice Springs the next day.
