Honestly I think they only use the words whatever whenever for the concierge because they start with a W, which fits in with their theme of naming everything with words that start with W. Its hard to judge all of them on a few experiences but I am guessing that service probably used to be much better back when the concept was new. At this point half of the guests are there to party and cause messes/noise/damage in the process. Its no excuse for bad service but I am guessing the workers have to deal with an exceptional amount of BS every night. And again, not an excuse, but at other high end hotels they are dealing with a lot of high rollers that tip well, unlike most of the drunk millennials. Right or wrong I think that is just the way it is.
On a side note I have always been treated well at Ws. Last time I was at the W NY Downtown I booked an ultra cool corner room for one night. I planned on switching hotels the next night but ended up just booking a cheaper, smaller room at the W. When I asked the guy at the front desk how I should switch rooms, he nonchalantly told me I could stay in my larger room, then typed a few keystrokes and that was that.
