At a good hotel, it should. At a hotel with lots of varied room types and interesting suites, it would hopefully translate to upgrades. But even when I've been a "regular" at city hotels without a bunch of suites to give, the good ones would enhance the welcome amenity or throw in drink chits (not called for by the loyalty program) once they knew me.

Often CIV scores are kept the same without review. They however, do get updated when you reach the next level within the executive club.
What, in practice, does BA use the numbers for? Are upgrade and standby lists sorted by the number? On most U.S. carriers, we think of fare basis of that day's flight as being the tiebreaker in those kinds of lists, although I'm not 100% that's true. I wonder what other airlines out there use these "value" numbers.
