I find in general that New Zealand TA's are more expensive. I once used a standard agent and they where whacking $300.00 on top of each J ticket I needed.
I have no problem with NZ charging fees - so long as they are transparent about it. I find $120pp is reasonable and I prefer dealing directly with airline as I find it is much easier in the case of IRROPS etc.
A lot of my tickets are issued from a TA either in London or the US and when everything goes down the sh*tt*r its an absolute pain to get fixed. Unfortunately as I don't buy these tickets I have no choice. About 20% of the flights I take I pay for myself (then get reimbursed). In these situations, I always but directly from the airline, either online or on the phone.
