So, in many cases now, upgrading one segment of a single itinerary makes it just as cheap to upgrade them all. I had a long discussion with a Delta agent who wanted 40,000 more miles to upgrade two Hawaii tickets from Main Cabin to Comfort+. 40,000 miles to upgrade all four legs, or 45,000 miles to upgrade just the over-water legs. If this is all one trip, you likely just upfared the whole reservation, instead of a single flight.
