I have reservations for 2, DFW-LAX-HKG-SIN. DFW-LAX on AA in F, LAX-HKG (1 F, 1 J), and HKG-SIN in J. 1 F and 1 J award. I'm in J, and my wife in F. I also have DFW-LAX-HKG-SIN on another day in F for myself on another day that I am not expecting to fly. I was thinking that at some point in time F on LAX-HKG would open up from CX on my first itinerary day. Right now, there is no AA availability on the flight from DFW-LAX, and on the CX flight I am booked for HKG-SIN, in addition to no F for LAX-HKG.

So considering the original J ticket as ticket A, and my other F ticket as B, is there a way to cancel ticket A, but take the flights for DFW-LAX and HKG-SIN on there to use for ticket B if LAX-HKG opens up on ticket A's date? I would try to do this on the same phone call. Or am I subject to the redeposit gods by just canceling the J ticket and hoping that availability comes back?
