I think using a door stop would be far superior. Using the deadbolt, the door is not open very wide (just a crack), so it is easy for the housekeeper to walk by without noticing that the door is still open. A door stop is more likely to leave the door open wide enough to be noticed.
Additionally, if the housekeepers use doorstops, they will need to collect them when they finish an area in order to move on to the next one. That alone will increase the odds that the door gets closed before the housekeeper leaves.
