I understand that Alain Ducasse at the Essex House has also succumbed, not sure whether it is anti-Franc, or in it's case, anti-overly expensive and over-rated, sentiments causing it's demise.

On a related note, Thomas Keller is scheduled to open an East coast editon of The French Laundry (I'm not sure the name will be that) in Columbus Circle very shortly.
