Oh, my goodness, I hate to say this, but Niagara Falls is awful. Horrible. Terrible. Honky Tonk. Trashy.

The falls are magnificent, but other than that, there really isn't anything else to do.

A week will drive you crazy. I'd suggest you make back-up plans now, before you make the trip.

A few years ago my college-age son, my husband left the highways to view the falls. After about 5 minutes we were ready to go.

But we did go to dinner at a restaurant overlooking the falls. Terrible! Overpriced and lousy service. They served us so quickly we were out of the restaurant in 20 minutes. Not lunch, mind you, but dinner!

Yes, the Canadians do a great job with flowers decorating the small parks and greens along the side of the gorge, but the area is full of hundreds and hundreds of tourists milling around.

If you want some other suggestions for your trip, I'm sure plenty of people would be willing to post ideas.
