I am inclined to agree with B. Watson. Pen and 4 Seasons seem to be pretty uniformly consistent. If I had to make a random choice, I would feel very comfortable choosing one or the other. The Ritz (significant gap) agree. Mandarin (significant gap--agree more--e.g. would never consider staying at San Francisco Mandarin (having done that a couple of times) as it has no warmth, occupies the top several floors of an office building and it's best feature is the bathroom. On the other hand, I do like the Mandarin, HKG, but have reservations at the Peninsula for my next trip. Re: Crillon--skip it and stay at the Bristol. Also, re: Ritz, San Francisco--second thoughts: Prefer Campton Place--better location, wonderful service--
