People make choices.

Friends ask me how I can afford to fly in J and the answer is simple

I have no kids
I don't smoke
I don't drive so no car to pay for
I spend reasonably frugally and save
I have fewer but better holidays
I travel at quieter times so not August or when kids are off school so it's cheaper
Am flexible - I tend to go Thursday to Wednesday rather than Saturday to Friday

Now some people have made different choices in their lives and that's fine but that's how life works
