I get ~15 cards a year and Cap 1 is the only denial I've ever had for a personal card. When I applied I had one card with them I'd had about 10 years. I don't think I had a checking account with them at the time. A denial and 3 inquiries is about as bad as it gets so keep that in mind depending on your circumstances. I have no problem getting approved for Barclays cards.
