Business travel for business purposes isn't taxable for the employed in the UK.

1) If my employer is paying the bill I'd go on the most beneficial route for me time wise, while seeking to maximise Avios and other hotel rewards along the way.

2) I'd be booking as late as possible to ensure I'm reimbursed before my credit card bill is due.

3) I wouldn't be taking on any exchange rate risk.
