Thank you for the advice everyone. My mom was in Istanbul during the earthquake but was fine. She was looking for rugs at the time.
Shortly after the quake some rug merchants wanted to raise cash quickly (with relatives in the disaster area) and she got a good deal on a gorgeous hand woven (pre television) silk and wool rug that is beautiful and absolutely devine.
Prior to the earthquake the rug was not for sale despite an offer, but the rug merchant budged after the quake.
I want one. And I am determined to get one that matches my bedroom too.
Will be looking into a guide as well, thats a good idea. This should be fun.
