I have only stayed at 2 hotels in KL, but the RC is my favourite of the two. I stayed there twice. Both times the service was excellent, and the rooms were also good. The staff at the Club Lounge were very helpful. I did not like the Shangri La in KL at all.

In S'pore I have stayed at a lot of the top hotels, including FS and Shangri La (Valley Wing), and the RC is my favourite by far. Every stay there has been excellent.

The Shangri La, which I had heard a lot about, was very disappointing. The room was designed very badly (what an odd shape!), and the walls were very thin. Far too much was audible from other rooms and the corridor. One of the things that I expect when arranging airport transfers with the hotel is that I will be greeted by name when I get to the hotel - it is usual for someone to be waiting to escort me to check in. The lady waiting for me at the entrance of the Shangri La had someone else's registration details, and seemed nonplussed when I insisted that I was not who she thought I should have been. After bad experiences in S'pore and KL, I have stopped staying at Shangri La properties anywhere.
