I am actually in favour of the deli box for the band 4 flights. Depending on the flight times and distance especially those closer to 3hrs flying time I would favour a sarnie/wrap/bagel/pastries to a hot meal. Now I know BA and other airlines (Qatar included) are very stingy with Y portion sizes. However, if they are supplemented well with some fresh fruit/cake/yogurt/choc/crisps then they could be on to a real winner.
According to BT, the deli box (for now anyway) is just for the ‘return catering’, so I am assuming this will refer to the outbound LHR flights to carry catering for the return leg. So one could still get a hot meal?

There are many travellers with all sorts of allergies and dislikes on certain food would disagree with your choice for them. For instance, someone with gluten allergic reaction would avoid any wraps/pastries/begels/sandwiches.
There are people who could have allergies towards yogurt products and bakeries,,,
