Just finished a stay this week due to my normal weekly NYC property being sold out.

Like someone upthread, I always book using AMEX corporate travel. However, at checkin they were easily able to add my SPG number and told me I would get points for the stay. No platinum recognition, service, or amenity, however.

I stopped in at the bar one evening. Very trendy (both the crowd and the bar itself). Drinks were pricey - but not too far from NY average. I tried to stop down again last night, but the whole bar was closed for a private event. Even in the library there was no way to get service. Kind of disappointing for a hotel bar.

Staff was very attentive and accommodating. It's a little bizarre compared to, say, the Westin. The check-in staff is all wearing capri pants and loose fitting yoga shirts. But I guess that's the style and feel they are going for in SOHO.

Do not underestimate this:

My room was on the 3rd floor. I got in around 9pm and was just getting settled when the first train rolled through. It took me a minute to realize what was happening and I quickly realized that there was NO WAY that I could stay in that room. Thankfully they moved me to the 8th floor and I was able to get some sleep. If they hadn't been able to move me, I would have left right then and there.

The rooms themselves are very small (even for NY). The first room was basically the King bed and about a foot on either side. I was "upgraded" to a larger room when I moved to the 8th floor. This one had enough room between the bed and window for a small desk (may 3 or 4 feet).

The neighborhood is ... just on the outskirts of SOHO. There's really nothing within on the block in terms of restaurants or bars. It's probably 3-4 blocks up to Spring or towards NYU before you find much. They did say that the restaurant onsite would be opening in the next week or so.

I don't know if I'll be back. The hotel itself and staff are fine enough. I'm just not sure I'm willing to play room roulette and end up getting stuck sleeping on a train track.
