Just as a random data point - we're 36.5 hours out from EWR-CPH, and the SAS site still says "pending." I don't have much expectation of an upgrade, but we shall see (and I shall update).

ETA: At 35:52, upgrade denied. Not surprised. I had bid at the higher end, but also knew it was fairly full.

I had also tried to upgrade through OT a few months ago. Received an email yesterday stating that they were not able to provide an upgrade, and that my monies would be refunded within 5 business days of flight departure. Once again, we shall see.
