Note that there are no APC kiosks in T7 so you will have to be processed by an agent the old-fashioned way. But with 3.5 hours I would guess you will be okay, barring any major delays on your first flight.

AA departs from Terminal 8 and there's a highway between Terminal 7 and Terminal 8 so you can't just walk from one to the next, you will also have to take the AirTrain. Take the Jamaica or Howard Beach AirTrain and it will be the next stop -- if you take the "all terminals" AirTrain you'll get there eventually but you'll have to go around the entire loop first.
