I have been on LH's new 748 upper deck and I would say that was better than OZ's upper deck. LH's upper deck had a 2-2 seating with the seats slightly angled towards each other. It wasn't that bad. I just found it odd that a newly redesigned business class would stick with such a traditional configuration. But given LH's attitude regarding business class (more accurately what they believe business class passengers should not get) I am not surprised. Anyhow, I digress.

But now that you have a choice of SQ, NH or UA, it makes things interesting. I am assuming SQ and NH do not fly 747s to ORD. In my order of preference, I might go with SQ first, then NH, then OZ and lastly UA. NH business class is roughly the same as OZ's business smartium (but not offered on OZ's 747s). However if UA is offering their new Polaris business class, I may go with that.

While there is a F class in OZ's 747 currently, F seats are not for sale. I have heard that some business class passengers (full fare paying passengers) may get an opportunity to sit up in F, but with normal biz service. I could be wrong but I believe they may pull out the F seats in the future.
