Most likely they forgot to stamp you. Especially since they mix US citizens (no stamp) and foreigners in a lane with APC, the officer could be more likely to forget.
If you're anywhere near the border you might want to print the I-94 just in case you come across one of those inland border "checkpoints". Otherwise probably no one will care.
(If you were reentering after a trip to Mexico or Canada, then the previous entry stamp would have the correct exit date already, but that's an edge case.)
