No need to do NYC-PVG back to back.

NYC-PVG = 825.
Nest inside PVG-LAX (or LAS) around 700.

Then OP would be paying about 15% more in airfare, but the RDM earning would be 400% more now than after Aug 1.

Just an idea.

I can also see the utility of a transcon whenever you see a good fare. One advantage of being on a coast.
