The upper deck in Asiana's 747 is pretty good. Loads of leg room, tons of storage space with the side bins. Almost never any babies or children up there. There may be a bit of noise from the galley in the back, but 11AB is just fine. The upper deck is, for the most part, a good experience. Seats can recline to almost flat, but at an angle.
Thanks, that is reassuring. I was afraid this would be an old bird akin to LH pre-"new"-C.
In theory I can still change flights if availability opens up on SQ or NH. Would this be advisable? (There is also UA.)
(OT: Is there F on this OZ route on board the 744? According to the seat map, it seems there is but all seats in that section show up as blocked on EF.)
