I guess most in Hawaii are big, but that picture of the paddle boarders really makes things seem quite crowded....

Given how far Hawaii is from the East coast I doubt that this resort will entice me to visit.

I believe it is a soft opening but there not really telling guests that. I suppose if 2 of your eating establishments and the spa aren't open it has to kinda be a soft opening.

The lagoon can get crowded on the Disney side but the Four Seasons side its not very busy in the water at all.

The last time we went there as a JW - we were pushed off to be sold timeshare weeks - left without the room "ready" until we finally convinced them we were truly not interested in any way.

Earlier I thought you were in the smaller Jr. Suite. Now I think your first room was actually the smaller Jr. Suite (at least Marriott started calling it one. The bigger one next door was our favorite. Yours was slightly different than the normal configuration - prob. b/c it was ada. We always had a square dressing room before the actual bathroom. Sinks were across from each other.

I still think the new decor is worse. They had the same patio furniture - didn't notice that in the first pics, it looked different. I always think cabanas take up too much pool space and make it crowded but your pics make it seem very well done. All the grass space by the beach was not much utilized in the old set up.

Thanks again for the detail!!
Your welcome! Im glad you found it useful. I don't think you would be disappointed with the pool and beach area refurb. Its pretty nice. As long as they don't close it down for a private event

Monkeypod is a good alternative to eat outside the resort. We did the same thing while staying in Wailea on Maui. Thats where we first discovered Monkeypod. Its not amazing food buts its good and they have a good cocktail and beer selection. Worth a visit.

I hope not to dissuade anyone from staying here actually but wanted to share my honest experience and feedback. I hope you enjoy Aulani, I have never been but looks nice. Enjoy the island and safe travels!
