I thought you could only pre-book if you are in QF First.
I have used the rooms only a couple of times, when I had a 4 hour layover and had some important work to do including a teleconference, but could only book when I arrived at the lounge.
Personally I would not want to eat my meal there, it is a desk or a very low coffee table so I would not find it too relaxing to eat.
QF used to put families in the rooms as well, there was a PS2 when they first opened the lounge, but I thought that stopped that after they made the library area into a kiddies play area.
