The musclebear movement: hair hair everywhere

I have noticed that the "bear" or "musclebear" movement appears to be in full bloom everywhere ( except perhaps Brazil?).

I was just in Japan, where the most successful gay mag is " G-Men" (find the link yourself, or ask me for it) a 300-page monthly filled with illustrations of hairy-backed, husky, muscular bearded guys.

Andrew Sullivan, the ,er, voice of Gay America, has recently praised the hairy-backed and (slightly) pot-bellied.

In France, same thing, some of the most popular gay bar are bear bars, in Paris at least.

I have my theories on how this came about, but I find the phenomena very interesting.

The smooth, hairless if not (horror, SHAVED) West-Hollywood twinkie or muscle queen is going out of flavor fast. Not a moment too soon. Hair is where it's at, apparently.
