My beef is that Thrifty went from one free day for every 16 days' rental (which was awesome and why they were my preferred company), to, in my case at least, one free day for every 50-ish days' rental. I still like them best because of price, which is my overriding factor when choosing a company, but this new system sucks.
550 points gets you a free weekend day, or 1100 points if it's a high demand time. Free week is 2750-5500 points, depending on if it's a high demand period. Free weekday is 675-1350.
So, about the same number of points as Thrifty. Personally, I end up with a free day about every 8 rental days. It sounds like these spend-based systems hurt you, because you're getting incredibly cheap rentals (~$10/day).
