Why would they want to block contactless? I ask as the Subway shop near me used to have contactless, but when I went to try it recently the clerk told me that it was "broken" now, even if worked before. The last time I was there, perhaps a week or two ago there was no evidence of any EMV, I had to hand the clerk the card and she swiped it herself.
This was not the same store that had demanded ID from me earlier this year.
I don't know but when I wrote to complain on Subway.com the franchise owner's manager called me she was extremely rude and basically said it was their business and they didn't want people using contactless and she didn't need a reason. Nasty nasty person!
