Did you ever stay at the IC at the top of the Spanish Steps? That was my first experience with an IC, and based on that, I've avoided IC since then. The room (and its bathroom) was
super-tiny (even by European city center standards), and the buffet breakfast cost $50. The amenities may have nicer or whatever, but the negatives so outweighed the positives for me that I thought, if
this is what IC means, I don't need to spend extra (money or points) for it.
Location was the
only nice thing about it for me.
IMHO they should only open another IC in Rome if they can give it the IC experience. Obviously the original Spanish Steps location (which was an old building converted to an IC) didn't work so well IMHO. And I don't know what the limitations are in any other central-ish location on creating a hotel with decent (in European city center terms, at least) sized rooms of IC quality.
