Why absurd? People collect all kind of stuff related to their interests. I do admit I wouldn't want to have a piece of an airliner somewhere around my apartment even though I love everything around planes and aviation since I spent already ten years cleaning out all the dust collecting pieces in the first place... but if you are a collector? Why not...
