I had a similar-ish problem with my ORD-AUS portion of a transatlantic itinerary moved from a 8pm arrival to after 11pm arrival.
I called and asked to be re-routed through DFW which was done free of charge after explaining it was a significant change in routing.
Perhaps if you called up, but be prepared to explain why the itinerary is no longer suitable following a change that was outside your control.
We have done that.. suggested that we didn't want a 2 hour drive that late and was told that we didn't have to drive we could get a taxi and that it would still be dark at the new anticipated arrival time. (Note we didn't say we didn't want to drive in the dark we said we didn't want to drive that late).
