Very glad you did! Keep in mind I used the Hudson in my above post to illustrate how bad he Opus is. I have absolutely the lowest regard for the Hudson (and for that matter, most IS hotels). Having stayed at ALL the IS hotels in the World, I have to say they all come across as unimpressive. Besides, the Starck interiors are new and interesting for a little, after a while I jsut got tired of them.
I will reiterate here. If you like more hype than substance, love staying at IS hotels, love dining at Asia de Cuba and Nobu, you will no doubt love the Opus....The Opus, and other design, boutique, or "hip" hotels need to understand the service is still the most important aspect in the hospitality industry. To impose your guests with a "movie set" at titude does not impress your guests. I was told by the Director of Room at the Paris-Vendome, when they hired their staff, each was told to be taking a job as "starring" role at a palatial hotel....Pretty much sums up my feelings (and theirs) towards service.
On another note, the Westin is not bad at all. Very modern. However, the suites are extremely small.
