Excuse me, but I saw the ORIGINAL production in London before it transferred to NYC... went with a couple of American friends who helped to translate. Allowing for my general ignorance about baseball, I found it interestingly complex - a lot more sophisticated than a lot of gay plays, it didn't give any easy answers or make the gay sportsman a paragon of virtue.
