Cutting in line? Is that poor manners? I'm always ready to board if possible, but with a tight connection, I just go up to the lane, which often has already boarded, and from there walk through and stand near the ticket scanner waiting for the GA's attention. When I'm in a lower lane and someone does this to me, I don't feel at all bothered, it's just the boarding order. Am I missing something?
You aren't missing anything. Of course you just go to your lane and board when the GA sees you standing there.
We also had a similar "board now" situation leaving Maui after a delay when the crew was about to time out. It was literally "board NOW and take any seat, we'll sort it out later. I was hoping for a free extr night in Maui as it was a blizzard back home.
