To follow up on previous question. I have a 1hr connection at IAH from UA to NH to NRT/HKG coming up. It's the first flight of the day to IAH for UA. There is still time, but weather at IAH looks pretty poor, and chances of misconnecting probably fairly high.
Calling NH probably won't help (unless I want to pay the change fee and difference in fare, which is substantial). I wonder if UA would be willing to move me to a flight the night before? If they do not, and I misconnect, they'll have to get me to HKG which is a lot more expensive for them, presumably?

Can they do that on another carrier's ticket? Should I even try? Or am I stuck rolling the dice and waiting?
