The Human Rights Campaign is preparing for a hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee's subcommittee on the Constitution called by Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and entitled "What is Needed to Defend the Bipartisan Defense of Marriage Act of 1996?". HRC lobbyists and legal staff are working with allies on the Hill to ensure that proponents of civil marriage equality will testify at the hearing.
Sen. Russell Feingold, D-Wis., is the ranking member of the subcommittee. The remaining subcommittee members are Sens.: Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga.; Larry Craig, R-Idaho; Dick Durbin, D-Ill.; Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.; Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.; Jon Kyl, R-Ariz.; and Charles Schumer, D-N.Y. </font>
