I know what you want to say appenzeller, thank you! I am not in fear of 12hours against 10hours, it's more the 3 hours waiting time and the additional flight and time.

A true non-stop in Y at a perfect time can be preferable to inconvenient J connections.
In my case it would be all economy vs business/business/economy. Last leg from LAX to LAS is eco on a different carrier (sorry not to mention it earlier) and without any lounge access in LAX.
