Isn't that true for all flights, no matter how booked?
The DoT requires airlines selling to the public to offer a free 24 hour hold or a free 24 hour cancellation window (until 7 days prior to departure). UA offers the free 24 hour cancellation window.

Thirds parties are not under that same requirement but many do offer the benefit. You need to check if the offer is a future credit or a refund back to original payment method.
Is this concerning a UA flight or purchase from UA or a different 3rd party?
