This is just my opinion and I'm not suggesting that the OP ride it, but the cable car is by far the biggest draw of the whole Ngong Ping attraction... unless you go up there to do some hiking. The little shopping village up there isn't really worth it, except for the gelato place which is very good but no better than XTC. The Bhuddha statue is impressive, but is crowded with people and is really a modern creation. The way the cable car hovers over such great height for such a long distance (it's definitely the longest one I've ridden), with the surrounding scenery including HKIA and the seas, is really great. Take away the cable car, and I'm not sure I'd find Ngong Ping a worthwhile attraction.
