thanks for the tip! in my last trip I used JR pass and always headed to JR office in train stations to get reserved shinkansen seats. most time there was a queue and couple of times it took 15-20 minutes to get tickets. last day of my trip JR pass expired and I was buying with credit card but I don't think the machine takes credit card.
