For the trip to Central Los Angeles, driving the 280 mile trip usually takes 4 hours if you do not stop for a meal en-route. You want to avoid Sunday afternoons if possible because the highway is very busy with all of the LA residents returning home.

Flying, the flight is very brief, although the AA attendants manage to serve multiple rounds.
