Amex Platinum "pay at station" type rate is 20% off and for an extra 5% discount that prepayment gets you I would rather retain the flexibility to cancel and have a second back up with another company (e.g. National) if price is comparable. Not that anyone at Hertz will give a sh*t if you don't rent as frequently any longer, but at least you can vote with wallet.
