Grand Hyatt Atlanta Buckhead
Introduction Service was great overall and I felt like it was a good use of a DSU. Yes, location-wise it is a bit of a ways from the city, but the standard room was a great value and being close to MARTA meant it was a breeze to take the train to/from the airport without needing to rent a car. And for reference, an Uber into Decatur cost about $12.Didn't eat in the lounge, but on the morning we were up there it seemed like there was a decent spread, though heavy on carbs. There was also a good selection of liquor in a locked case which I'm assuming was available during cocktail hour.Chose the Diamond welcome amentity which includes wine and food. There was a dessert option which I think was called "taste of Atlanta" or something and it was so good. The shower head had decent water pressure but only one (spray) setting. Hot water temperature fluctuated a bit between hot and scalding which was strange.Room was in decent condition but some signs of wear on the furniture. Even with the air conditioning set on low it still got warm in the bedroom in the middle of the night.Unfortunately they didn't have a suite available on the same floor as the lounge, so we were on the 16th floor which was fine. Seemed like a standard executive suite. Nice sized living room with a sofa and chairs, "bar" area with mini fridge, desk and a nice-sized TV. There's a little hallway which houses the closet, and then entry to the bathroom with shower/tub and the bedroom.Took the red eye from LAX which put us into ATL around 6am on Saturday. Rode MARTA from the airport to Buckhead station (about 35 minutes) and walked about 5 minutes to the hotel. Tried to check in at 7am and was told my suite wasn't available yet. Actually, the front desk tried to charge $100 for early check in but when I mentioned my Diamond status they apologized and said they would try to get me into a room as soon as possible. Offered my wife and I to use the lounge and they would call when the room was ready. Happily it was only about 30 minutes before I got a call from the manager on duty saying we were all set.Stayed here for Memorial Day weekend. Booked back in March and got a AAA rate of$135/night. Applied a DSU and was confirmed into an Executive Suite.
