When I was in Israel (about 10 years ago), acceptance of gays was pretty much running the same course as the U.S. or a little ahead, except that I didn't feel like it was as big an issue. The Palestinians that I met were tolerant, but I was warned that in most Islamic countries, it is not a topic for discussion, and in some cases could lead to imprimsonment if discovered.
